Halloween Window Decoration Ideas

Are you looking for a last-minute way of sprucing up your window for Halloween this weekend?

Well, look no further. We have hints and tips on how to easily create the ultimate Halloween window to impress or scare your trick or treaters and passersby. Check out our ideas below.

Make Halloween Window Silhouettes

If you’re looking for a simple way to spruce up your windows this Halloween, why not grab some black card and a pair of scissors. You can draw out a template onto the black card and then get cutting it out to create all kinds of spooky scenery for your windows. You can stick them in the window using sellotape or blu-tac.

If you don’t consider yourself an artist, pop the black card into a printer and print the template instead. Or, if you find some pre-made sticker decals – these can do the trick too. The best thing about silhouettes is that they are visible from both inside and outside the house. Moreover, depending on the time of day, the light will filter through, making them look spooky all day long!

Here are some of our template ideas for your Halloween window silhouettes:

Bats

Spiders and spider webs

Cats

Witches

Ghosts

Pumpkins

Skeletons

If you’re going for a witch design, cut out the pupils of her eyes and stick them back down, but suspend them back a little. Doing so will make it look like she’s following passersby as they walk past! The spookiest neighbourhood watch you ever will see…

Pom-Poms

Spooky season doesn’t have to be all that spooky. So if you’re looking to add a hint of Halloween minus any frightening elements, string some black and orange pom-poms along a thread and hang them from your windows.

Stick to a maximum of three colours to keep your Halloween windows looking sophisticated yet in keeping with the theme.

Try black, white, orange or yellow, or even green for the best results. Just tape the string to the top of the window frame or the headrail of the blind, and the pom-poms will hang in view of passersby.

Halloween Foliage

Just like the pom-poms, try a more seasonal look this Halloween – with a less scary alternative. However, instead of the pom-poms, hang some crisp autumn leaves on the string in the window.

Choose from orange and yellow large leaves and drape them along the string using some glue. Spread them out slightly to allow the light to shine through too.

You can even leave these up after Halloween, to fill the void before Christmas!

Other Halloween Window Ideas

If you want an easier way of decorating your windows this Halloween, use some white bedsheets and drape them from your windows. Other materials can also do the job – like cottonwool balls stretched to look like spiders webs.

Furthermore, you can hang some multi-coloured string lights up in the windows to flash and flicker. Candles can also provide a sense of eeriness.

Or, if you’re more of a traditionalist, situate your carved pumpkin in the window with a lit candle inside!
