How To Maintain A Composite Door?

What Are The Advantages Of A Composite Door?

Composite doors are fast becoming one of the most popular front door choices for UK homeowners. With thousands of homeowners now choosing a composite door over the once-popular uPVC door. One particular reason for this could be a variety of door designs and colours offered from the composite door range. Composite doors, compared to a uPVC door, offer a more versatile selection of door options. They are also easy to maintain.

Before the availability of composite doors, homeowners had the option of a uPVC door or traditional wooden doors. The external wooden door requires a certain level of treatments, maintenance and the occasional fresh coat of paint every few years to keep it looking good. Furthermore, wooden doors can warp over time without the correct treatment. The various weather conditions in the UK over the years can take their toll on external wooden doors.

Composite front doors offer both style and durability. They can look like a traditional wooden door but have similar benefits of a uPVC door. Plus, maintaining a composite door requires low to minimal maintenance composite doors are easy to clean.

How Often Should I Clean Composite Door?

Keeping your composite door looking fresh is possible by simply giving your door a quick clean to maintain its appearance. Giving your composite door a quick clean at least once a month should help with keeping it looking pristine.

How Do I Maintain And Clean My Composite Door?

When it comes to cleaning your composite door, you will need the following:

  • A bowl of warm water
  • Soft cloth/Microfibre cloth

Under no circumstances should you ever use any abrasive materials to clean your door, as these will scratch and damage your composite door. Use plain warm water, as some soaps and domestic cleaners can strip away paint, potentially damaging the look of your composite door.

Use warm water and a microfibre cloth to wipe down the frame of the composite door. Do this to the edges as you want to remove the build-up of grit and grime. Use a fresh bowl of warm water to clean the glass of your composite door and another bowl of warm water for the door.

You can also use a quality dry microfibre cloth to dry your composite door, do this gently. Cleaning your composite door will help to keep it looking fresh all year round.
