Best Ways to Insulate Your Home

October 18, 2017admin

5 Best Ways to Insulate Your Home.

Loft Insulation.

A loft that is badly insulated can lose anything up to 25 percent of heating through the roof. Loft insulation of 270mm thick laid over the floor of a loft can help to save money on energy bills.

Cavity Wall Insulation.

Another way that heat escapes from our homes is un-insulated walls. Cavity wall insulation is done by filling the space between the two walls on the outside of our homes. The insulating material will help to cut down on heating costs. Solid types of walls can also be insulated on the outside and the inside.

Double Glazing & Triple Glazing.

Double glazing and triple glazing can help to cut down on heat loss by up to half. A+ Rated windows with high performance can really help to save money on energy bills. Double glazing is the cheaper option, however, if your home gets really cold during the winter months you may consider choosing triple glazed windows.

Flooring Insulation.

Up to 15 percent of heat can escape from the flooring, looking into underfloor insulation will help to prevent further heat loss. Wool insulation can be installed between the joists or can be laid underneath floorboards and wooden flooring.

Pipe and Water Tank Insulation.

Installing a 75mm jacket over a hot water tank will help to insulate the tank. This can help to reduce heat loss by up to 75 percent and also help to keep the hot water hotter for much longer. It is also worth investing on insulating water pipes around the home.
