uPVC windows are a strong and durable product with low-maintenance making them easy to clean. However, although they are great for every season thrown at them. Over time they will become dirty, dusty and covered in grime that has built up over time.
However, with some elbow grease and time, you can get your uPVC windows looking like new once again.
The Best Way To Clean Your uPVC Windows
1. Open Your Windows
Opening your windows as far as possible. This will allow you to remove the built-up muck and dirt by using a hoover. Remember to vacuum all the alcoves, opening mechanism, and hinges. If you have a hoover that has a brush nozzle, you can use this to prevent scratching the uPVC window frames and glass.
2. Bucket and Warm Water
Using a bucket make a warm soap mixture of warm water and washing up liquid. Using a soft sponge or soft cloth wipe down the dirty window frames and glass. Furthermore, do not use any type of cream cleaners or scouring pads as these can damage the uPVC.
3. Dry Your Windows
Using a non-abrasive clean cloth, tea towel or kitchen roll, dry your windows and remove any excess water for the ultimate shine. Doing this will further remove any dirt that may be floating around in the excess water.
4. For Extra Shine
If you want extra clear glass windows panes, try mixing 2 cups of water with 1/4 of vinegar and 1/2 of washing up liquid. Take some old newspaper and dip this into the mixed cleaning solution. Now using the newspaper you can wipe the windows in a circular motion to remove any wax, dirt, and smears that may have built-up.
How To Clean uPVC Window Frames?
Older types of uPVC window frames can lose their white colour and shine because of the build-up of grime, dirt and other debris on the surface of the uPVC.

1. Make Cleaning Solution
Using a bucket mix the following. 4 Cups of hot water and 1 cup of white vinegar. Once you have mixed the mixture place the cleaning solution into a bottle sprayer.
2. Spray The Window Frames
Using the spray bottle start to spray it over the uPVC window frames. You will want to leave the solution for at least 10 minutes to soak into the dirt and grime.
3. Dry The Window Frames
Using a non-abrasive dry, smooth and clean cloth wipe down the uPVC window frames to help remove any excess water or liquid solution. Furthermore, if this does not work. You can use baby wipes as these can clean without damaging the uPVC frame.
How To Clean uPVC Window Sills?
To maintain the perfect look of white uPVC window sills. You will need to wipe the sills down every so often with a soft cloth and hot warm water. Do not use abrasive cloths or sponges as these can scratch and dull the uPVC.
- Place a soft cloth or a soft sponge into a bucket of soapy warm water. Now give the window sill a good wiping down.
- Using a brand new clean dry cloth a non-abrasive type to dry down the uPVC window sills removing any excess water.
- When cleaning your window frames do not use abrasive clothes or pads as these can remove the finish of the uPVC.
