Check Your Home Before Winter Comes.
Keeping your home warm during the winter months can be a real challenge. Here is a list of our tips on making your home more energy efficient this winter. Keep the heat in and the cold out.
As temperatures become lower and the leaves start to fall on the trees, don’t forget to prepare your home and get it ready for the cold winter months.
Keep the Hot in and the Cold Out.
First off the checklist is to make sure that your heating system is fully operational. Now that your heating system is generating heat, you will need to make sure that it doesn’t escape. Ensure to check all of the seals around your windows and doors. If any seals are broken we would recommend you have them replaced as soon as possible.
Heat can escape from single glazing and some double glazed windows installed before 2005. If you think this may be happening to your home, contact a professional window fitting company to discuss replacing your old windows. Double and triple glazing should be considered as an option.
It is very important to ensure that your home has good ventilation to keep all living areas healthy. Sufficient ventilation will help to prevent the build ups of moisture. Without good ventilation, moisture in the air can cause condensation, which then can lead to mould growth on walls. This can cause damage to the interior of the home.
Keeping Energy Usage Under Control.
During the winter time, it is normal for energy bills to increase over the winter months. However, that doesn’t mean you cant find ways of reducing your energy usage during winter.
Windows at home can be a great energy saver. If you live in a house with single glazed windows consider upgrading to A+ rated double glazed windows. A+ rated double glazed windows can save you up to £445 a year on energy bills.
Prepare The Outside of Your Home.
With winter can come with a lot of extreme weather to your home. So is having the outside of your home prepared for what nature brings is a great idea.
